Functions Palette

Use the VIs and functions on the Functions palette to build block diagrams. The VIs and functions are located on subpalettes based on the types of VIs and functions.

Select View»Functions Palette or right-click the block diagram workspace to display the Functions palette.

If you right-click the block diagram workspace, the palette will be in a temporary position. Click the thumbtack in the upper left corner of the palette to pin the palette so it is no longer temporary. LabVIEW retains the Functions palette position and size so when you restart LabVIEW, the palette appears in the same position and has the same size. You can change the contents of the Functions palette.

Note  By default, LabVIEW installs with an abridged palette view. You can use the Change Visible Palettes dialog box to show or hide palette categories.
SubpaletteDescription
AddonsUse the Addons category to access LabVIEW add-ons and to locate palettes of some modules or toolkits that you have installed in LabVIEW.
Connectivity VIs and FunctionsUse the Connectivity VIs and functions to work with .NET objects, ActiveX-enabled applications, input devices, register addresses, source control, Web services, Windows registry keys, and other software, including National Instruments products you purchase.
Data Communication VIs and FunctionsUse the Data Communication VIs and functions to exchange data between applications.
Express VIs and FunctionsUse the Express VIs and functions to build common measurement tasks.
FavoritesUse the Favorites category to group together items on the Functions palette that you access frequently. You can add items to the Favorites category using the Category (Standard), Category (Icons and Text), Icons, and Icons and Text formats. You then can organize your Favorites using the Organize Favorites dialog box.

Use the NI Instrument Driver Finder to search for and install instrument drivers. If an instrument driver is not available in the NI Instrument Driver Finder, you can use the Create New Instrument Driver Project wizard to create a new instrument driver. If you do not find or create an instrument driver, you can use the Instrument I/O Assistant to communicate with message-based instruments.

If driver VIs you expected to find on this palette are missing, you must install support for the driver in the current version of LabVIEW.
Mathematics VIsUse the Mathematics VIs to perform many different kinds of mathematical analysis. You also can interface real-world measurements to the mathematical algorithms in order to obtain practical solutions.
