Right-click a process in the system tree and select Add Variable from the shortcut menu, or right-click an existing shared or network variable in the system tree and select Edit Variable from the shortcut menu to display this dialog box.
Use the selections in the left pane of this dialog box to access variable configuration options:
Variable—Determines the basic configuration of the variable, including the data type and variable type.
Alarming—(DSC Module) Configures alarming options for the shared variable.
Description—Specifies a description for the shared variable.
Logging—(DSC Module) Configures logging options for the shared variable.
Network—Configures network options such as buffering for the shared variable.
Real-Time FIFO—(Real-Time Module) Enables and configures the real-time FIFO of a shared variable.
Scaling—Configures scaling options for the shared variable.
Update Deadband—(DSC Module) Configures the deadband options for the shared variable.
Initial Value—(DSC Module) Configures the initial value for the shared variable.
Security—(DSC Module) Configures the security options for the shared variable.
LabVIEW modules and toolkits you have installed might provide additional shared variable types, configuration options, and limitations. Refer to the documentation for the LabVIEW module or toolkit for more information.
