Acquiring or Simulating a Signal

Use the DAQ Assistant Express VI to acquire a signal using a data acquisition device. Use the Simulate Signal Express VI to simulate a signal. After you acquire or simulate a signal, you can graph, analyze, or write the signal to a text-based measurement file.

Note Note  The DAQ Assistant Express VI is available on Windows only.

Different DAQ devices acquire different kinds of signals. In general, you can acquire two kinds of signals with a DAQ device—single-point, such as a temperature reading, and buffered, such as a waveform. You also can read data from a single channel or several channels.
